A Little Bit More…
March 24, 2007 by curellasays
I recieved an e-mail from a reader yesterday suggesting that I should write a post and let my readers know where I shop, my favourite brands, and other fashion & style related info about myself and i thought it was a brilliant idea! I am kinda stuck in a writing rut at the moment and I guess I should let you guys know these “about me” kinda information. After all this is my blog, and I have the licence to talk me, me, me…
Its not everyday I even get people leaving messages about this blog so I’ve decided to do this anyway. Its another post for you to read & maybe its something you might want to know (not to sound narciussistic whatsoever though)
Where I Shop & labels I like?
Besides my favourite high street stores like Topshop, Zara, H&M & Miss Selfridge, I also like looking for goodies in TK Maxx, Ebay, charity shops, indie boutiques that stock unique brands that aren’t available on the high street. I also love online vintage shops (where i get modern vintage items as i am not a big fan of old vintage stuff), asos.com, revolveclothing.com, additionsdirect, laredoute, etc. Basically I like to shop almost everywhere, i try to give all shops a chance! I personally like a lot of laid back californian brands like Free People, Nick & Mo, Larok, etc. I also love australian brand dresses. There seem to be something different about the fabric they use which seems to be of better quality than the dress quality of those in the UK or US.
Style Tips?
I think that everyone is stylish in their own way and the only way to find out is to experiment. Don’t just follow magazines blindly. Always remember to leave your personal element in your outfit. I would suggest you to pick out pieces you love from your wardrobe, your favourite colours, things you like (for example, butterflies, skulls, flower print, etc) and combine em all together to make it all your own. I believe that no two people have the exact same inner style.
I am no stylist whatsoever, Im just learning like everybody else and I have definitely seen much more “me” in my outfits these days and also improvement on how i look.
My Style Icons
My ultimate style icon is definitely Robert Smith from The Cure. It is also the main reason why this blog is called CURELLA says. Its inspired by him. If you watched all of the Cure’s music videos you will begin to understand why.
I also love the simplistic chic of Jennifer Aniston. I know lots of people do not think she has any fashion style at all but i think thats why she’s cool. She is just so effortlessly cool that she doesn’t even have to try to look good, she is already chic. See what i mean?
I consider a lot of people from Mystylediary.net to be my style icons as well. I occasionally have a peek in random people’s style diaries and there’s a good mix of people who have inspired me as well.
Last but not least.. Favourite Designers
You know what? My favourite designers changes from time to time. I haven’t seen any consistent great work from any designer yet before and i really cannot name a definite one. But at the moment now I am really loving Mike & Chris as I am a big fan of hoodies, as well as Alessandro Dell’Acqua. Perhaps my favourite designer of all time is Chanel, but then again sometimes their clothing look all the same.
Ok, thats all. Bored you enough? Hah!
