Girl on a budget with a lil target.

I’ve adored these Marc Jacobs studded ballet flats for a very very long time now. I even once considered saving up to buy it, but since I am useless when it comes to saving, that plan never panned out. I was at work today and I saw a lady wearing an ‘inspired’ pair. The studs on her flats were much smaller and they didn’t have the cool silver crosses to outline the middle of each stud, and of course, the quality didn’t look as good as the Marc Jacobs.
I was intrigued either way so I demanded to know where she got her ‘cute’ flats from. She gave me a chuffed reply, “they were only like 3 quid in PEACOCKS!!”.
I knew immediately that I had to make a trip to Peacocks during lunch to see if I can score a pair of these. They may not look as fab as the Marc Jacobs one but beggars can’t exactly be choosers hey?
When i arrived at Peacocks, i found out that they were 10 quid, reduced to 5, so the lady’s statement was kinda misleading *sniggers* I was eating my fries from Burger King while trying on Sizes 3 & 4 to ensure the correct fit! Man, i was a woman with a plan!
Anyway, upon arriving home, I decided to make the shoes look even more similar to the Marc Jacobs pair. I had a studded belt from Blue Banana which i bought for 10 quid. I removed like 13 studs in the end (only needed 10) because I kept destroying the studs.
It took me 1.5 hours to complete this lil customisation with a nail file (metal), a scissors & a pair of vernier calipers. My fingers hurt from all the hole making and removal of the original studs off the shoes. As you can see, only 3 of the original studs were kept per shoe.
As my studs were completely black, i used a silver pen to outline the crosses in the middle. I have to be careful not to smudge it off as it WILL come off! The studs aren’t very secure too so I have to be super careful when I wear em.
The Peacocks pair on the left, and the DIY version on the right.

And the final look on my feet!
My tired feet.

wow, great work there! love the transformation - i wish i was that creative!
