£5 bargains!
January 2, 2008 by curellasays
So much for my shopping ban, I went out into town today for the sole purpose of buying a few books to read but ended up with 2 £5 bargains & Sims 2: Open for business pc game. I totally forgot to take an outfit picture too, but my outfit today isn’t terribly exciting anyway. A coat with a jumper, waistcoat, jeans & flats. *yawn* lol.
There is only 1 vintage store that I know of in my town. This little shop called “Hobos” and I never seem to find anything worth my time always. Saying that, I still check the store out everytime I am in town, just in case you know. Well, today was the day I finally found something in there that I liked. It was this oversized colourful vertical striped silk blouse which reminded me so much of my Marc Jacobs dress (my favourite dress!) so I knew I had to get it!
It isn’t something I usually wear, as I hate blouses and I don’t even own a blouse i think! Lol. I decided to take a pinch of salt and tried it on, and I did like how it looked on me. I was wearing my Kate Moss for Topshop metallic silver cashmere jumper under the blouse and it actually looked good under the blouse, strangely enough. This little discovery has given me a few ideas on how to wear it now. I’m thinking mixing it with metallic colours, wearing it like a jacket, or like a cape/cloak.
*Remember this dress…*

Quite similar to this vintage shirt isn’t it?

And then I went into New Look just for a browse. I have only ever bought a dress from New Look before so I wasn’t expecting to step out with anything! I spent about half an hour rummaging through their sales rack but didn’t see anything I like. I spotted a heavily influenced Miu Miu style heels that I wanted to buy but they only had 2 left in Size 5.
I turned around and I saw 2 pairs of Giles Deacon for New Look shoes on sale. There was a red strappy pair with gold studs that I really liked which were also £5 but there wasn’t any in my size. I even tried a size up but it just looked awkward. The pair that I ended buying, I admit I don’t like em as much as the other pair but they do look good on and some random woman even said that it was pretty. That pretty much convinced me to make a visit to the New Look tills.

OH well, its £5, comfortable wedge heels, shiny and silver and from Giles Deacon. How not to be convinced? Lol.
I really need to stop shopping!

looove the shoes, who knows, they might be a collectors item in a few years!
Congrats on the bargains! I love the stripes; gorgeous colours!
Lovely shoes as well; why can I never find gorgeous shoes for £5? The closest I’d get would be some cut-price granny-style slippers.
