Marc by Marc Jacobs

One of my personal favourite designer labels is Marc Jacobs’ diffusion label “Marc by Marc Jacobs”. I tend to prefer it to his original Marc Jacobs line as the wearability factor is much higher for me. We see the same kind of linebackered shoulders in this collection, just like the ones we saw at the Malandrino show, so do I suspect a trend emerging? I am not sure if anyone I know off is that interested in that detail, except Susie Bubble, who copied Balenciaga’s Spring/Summer 2008 boxy shouldered floral print dress and made it her very own very well.

I also see a bit of parisian inspiration from the berets that were worn by many of the models on the show and the chic wide stand-up collars which I really love. The best part of the show for me was actually the shoes. Buckled ankle boots should very hot in the Fall i suppose, and I am definitely jumping on that bandwagon when it begins.

Coloured houndstooth prints were all over the show as well, in bright colours mixed with classic black. It really updated the good ol’ houndstooth print and will make Fall/Winter more colourful than usual with this new colour variation.

My favourite, however is this metallic boxy full skirt (or dress) which were worn with bright orange boots. I felt this collection was a bit lukewarm personally but there are a few pieces that did make me go “wow!”. What did you think of the collection personally?
I love the white, grey and black outfit in the second picture! It looks great!
I agree with your choice of favorite. Also, notice how severely that waist is belted in the pink houndstooth–very New Look and so is the volume of the skirt. What interests me about it is that the fabric is deliberately made crinkled and distressed, so what we have is a great statement on punking up the original.
I’m in love with Marc Jacobs so I really like this new collection!
love the ankle boots with buckles!!! i also like the black/blue combination. btw, chanel’s rodeo drive window is done in black/blue outfits now.
