Alexander Wang

At the moment, I am really into Alexander Wang’s simple, nonchalant chic style which is exactly the same vibe that I get whenever I see Kate Moss’s pictures in the magazines. Whilst visiting his official site, I was pleasantly suprised and really happy to hear “Just Like Heaven” by The Cure blast in the background. It is one of my favourite Cure songs and it is always uplifting to hear it under such circumstances! The last time I heard a Cure song on a fashion related circumstance was on Balmain’s Autumn/Winter show which I loved. Its just really uncanny! “Just like heaven” was also the song on Michelle Siwy’s (designer of Siwy denim) Myspace page just a couple weeks ago! I swear I keep hearing The Cure songs on the pages of designers I love! Its just really great because they are my favourite band and this just goes to show how true it is that their music does sort of have something to do with my style and what I like in fashion. So Curella says….
Anyway, back to Alexander Wang’s styling, I feel so compelled to dress more simply after seeing the campaign pictures on his website. Its amazing what a little difference towards a certain detail on how you dress can completely change a look. I’m not going to change my style completely but I am definitely inspired by his clothes and seemingly easy outfit combinations right now.
So these are the ones that I think are more suited to my personal style, and also some that I would love to incorporate into my own style.

Picture on the left shows a waistcoat dress with a yellow underskirt. If I were to do it my way, it would be a cropped waistcoat with a chiffon style mini dress with a bias cut skirt which is about 2.5 inches longer than the dress underneath it. As for the picture on the right, I would prefer to use an oversized long t shirt and wear it with a collared sleeveless jacket or waistcoat with matching tights.

The first look shows a colour block dress paired with thigh high boots and a leather jacket. I don’t want to say more but this picture solves a tiny style problem of mine as presented in a previous post. The second one is just dead easy to emulate. A knit hooded cardigan paired with a tulle full skirt, I wish I thought of that. My doc marten boots would be the perfect thing to end the look. You never want to look too cute. (for me anyway!)

The last two looks are something that ANYONE can do with what they probably got in their wardrobe already. Scrunch up the sleeves of your old oversized sweater to get instant edge and pair with your skinniest jeans with ankle boots. You don’t even have to try! The second look requires a tulip skirt (on my wishlist already) and a standout accessory (necklace). Tuck in strappy top into cute skirt plus the common ol’ ankle boots with tights = effortless chic, yet again. I know lots of people have already done this look but these two pictures just stress again how easy it is to achieve nonchalant style actually.

This picture makes me wonder if I should cut off the sleeves of my denim jacket.

The only way to midriff baring without looking like a Britney wannabe is this way.
And of course the Fall/Winter 2008-9 Alexander Wang show also inspired me a lot. So here are the looks that caught my eye.

The jeans worn on the last picture is completely waterproof and features one zip that you can unzip all the way from the front of the jeans to the back of your jeans. Now, that’s a pair of jeans that you can swim in! Lol.
Well, expect to see a tiny change in my personal style. I think its great how I am actually observing my own style evolve. 1/2 a year ago, you couldn’t convince me to pay money to buy a skirt or enjoy wearing a skirt, but I am loving the skirts in Alexander Wang’s Fall/Winter 2008 show. So, never say never to anything…
Wow, some great designs and I can’t wait to see how you incorporate them into your personal style
love your entires! and the way u dress!
