Fuschia Leathery Goodness
May 14, 2008 by curellasays
7 days and 55 pounds later, arrived my new fuschia leather handbag which looks quite a lot like the Marc Jacobs Venetia handbag from many seasons ago. However, this isn’t just a cheap-looking rubbish knock-off, it doesn’t say Marc Jacobs on it (it says Bloomingdales which is a departmental store, which stocks Marc Jacobs - lol) and is made of soft and supple leather, good enough to rival my Marc by Marc Jacobs patent leather bag. I like it so much that I almost think that I love it more than my Marc by Marc bag. Is it me or does bright coloured leather bags just look 100x better than black/white leather bags?

(Marc Jacobs “Venetia” in tan)
This Bloomingdales leather bag retailed for US$298, according to the seller and it has proven to me that you can get a really good leather bag for just a few hundred dollars if you do not care about the designer label. I am for once, convinced to stop obsessing over designer bags that I can’t afford and stick to having under $500 bags on my wishlist instead. I really love this one though, everything is perfect about it. The size is a medium, but almost like a small large bag (hard to explain till you see it) and the leather smells very pleasant and I can’t keep my hands off it!

The lining is made of sturdy canvas and its got a cool flap pocket, a zip pocket and a mobile phone compartment. I think I might actually end up using this bag more than my marc by marc for school. Its really amazing. It also comes with a long strap but I am still not sure how and where I am going to fix the straps to but it would be a good idea as sometimes i prefer carrying my bags across my shoulder.
I actually own a faux leather bag in a similar style which I got from ASOS a long time ago for £25. After a few uses and one particular job interview when I was carrying a lot of heavy books, the lining ripped apart and I haven’t used that bag since. I think the moral of the story is - if you are going to buy an “inspired” bag, go for something of better quality. ASOS has started making their bags in leather now, mercifully, so you don’t have to worry so much about quality.
I really cannot wait to use this bag! I think I’ll bring this to Spain instead. After all, it won’t dirty as easy as my Marc one and I don’t have to go all high-maintenance over it.
Right, now to think of Jenny Humphrey inspired outfits to go with this!
