Update: While browsing on Topshop.com about half hour ago, I noticed that they had a couple of Size 8s in stock again, so I ordered another one! I’ll just send back the one that fits less well, hopefully when it arrives tomorrow as I paid for “next day delivery” seeing that I am leaving the UK next Wednesday. Wish me luck! Thanks to everyone who commented!

The ethereal blue lace dress arrived today! While I managed to squeeze into a size 6, reluctantly, I also realised that my lack of boob-age also meant that if I had ordered this in a size 8, it would look even more obvious that I have nothing there to hold the dress up. But then with a Size 8, I would probably have some space to wear a bra underneath! Now I’m out of £55, money I don’t really have but stuck with a pretty dress that is slightly too tight for me and makes me look completely flat chested. Despite that, I really do love it though but somehow feel “not good enough” for it. I’m not really fishing for compliments here but it would be nice if you could tell me if the dress looks fine on me or not! I plan on wearing a thin t-shirt underneath for a casual look too.

Nevertheless, I plan to try to lose a few pounds to see if the dress fits better then because at the moment, as i’m blogging while having it on, its a tiny bit hard to breathe! Although I am pretty sure that its nothing compared to what medieval women had to go through!
I love it paired with doc martens to counter-act the super girliness of it, but this dress seems pretty versatile so far. I’ve tried it on with a few jackets and I’m very pleased with it. I just wish I was a tiny bit slimmer.

I don’t think the dress looks too small for you at all, but it is ill-fitting in the bust. It’s hard to tell how it really fits in the bust bc your hair is covering most of it, but you can tell if it’s right for you there or not. If it was a lot of money you don’t have, and it isn’t just perfect, I say return it. Better to spend your money (especially that much) on something truly spectacular.
padded bras are a savior for me! it looks lovely, especially with the docs and the blue suits you so much. you have to ask yourself if you will want to wear it and gravitate to it in your wardrobe if it doesnt fit well, I find i don’t to those items and they end up being a waist of money. you could ask people to look in topshops near them, next time i’m in there this week i will look for you!
i’m a fan of your fashion blogging, and I figured this a good opportunity to say, you look amazing girly!
Lovelovelove the dress on you. I can see why you’d feel out of place in it (i def. have a hard time feeling right wearing things that are different from my day-to-day look). Just rest assured, it looks great!
selina: thanks for the offer. I think i’m gonna try the padded bra solution although i tried wearing a bra with it and it was even harder to zip!! Lol. I don’t think i’ll return it after all, love it too much!!! Lol. Maybe chicken fillets huh! Lol.
Holly: when you mention that about my hair covering it, it hit me! If my hair covers the chest area like it does in the pic, i suppose it won’t be such a big problem after all! Thanks!!
Kait: Thanks for the sweet compliment! I’ll try to feel more confident in it!
I don’t think it looks to small but I do think that it’s a lot of money for something you aren’t loving. You are, of course, “good enough”. THe dress isn’t good enough for you! And, really, you are such a slim girl. I wouldn’t lose a pound if I were you.
Amazing that being an 8 could be considered “a few pounds overweight”!! If you look at the Garance Dore picture, she’s not exactly filling the dress either. I’m pretty flat chested and wouldn’t be happy with gaping holes, but it’s up to you. Depends how comfortable you feel! Looks good on you, but if you don’t feel it, then you won’t enjoy wearing it and won’t show it off properly.
Awww I don’t think you need to lose a pound!’
I have the opposite problem, 32DD breasts and a size 8 waist. I tried the dress on in a 12, which fitted my boobs but was loose and hung weirdly around my waist.
Silly dress!
