As if making covetable leather & fleece-lined hoodies ain’t enough, Mike & Chris have come up with some great alternative basic tops & dresses with interesting and unconventional details. They all look so layer-worthy for colder weather and yet worn alone it still looks so urban cool. Prices of their non-leather pieces usually ranges around $180-$300, making it more attainable than other contemporary designers. The button up dress with large collar flaps (bottom, last one on the right) is probably my most favourite of all, seeing that it would be the perfect item to wear under my favourite silvery goodness. It looks like it could be worked into a sleeveless trench coat for day as well. How versatile! On the other hand, I am also loving the yellow dress with ruched sleeves. A monochrome striped cashmere jumper would look so fun with it for colder weather but in the summer, the addition of my new Jonathan Aston pink 15-denier tights will inject more girly fun into it. I can’t even begin to tell you how many jackets all these items will look so good under!

Definitely going on my wishlist of things i hope to buy. It is pieces like these that are so “wearable” that makes them worth every single penny.

P.s. That lovely leather waistcoat only reminds me that I want a leather waistcoat too.

My outfit today sure raised a few eyebrows around the village as almost everyone i saw were dressed in a ratty old vest top with shorts or jeans. The sun has decided to come out in full force today and it blasted its best rays onto me, but thankfully I don’t tan or burn easily.

So I admit I went a bit over the top posing for my outfits today but it was fun! My boyfriend is still hooked on GTA IV, except he already finished the main game and is playing it online instead. I also purchased the June issue of Elle (UK) so I suppose I’m going to relax on my couch and read that this evening. I bought some pizza, onion rings, ice-cream and a few others just now when I went out, so there’s going to be a mini-party for two tonight as well. hehe.

I call this the Victoria Beckham look. Lol. A great position to show off bags & shoes, don’t you think? Lol.

You have no idea how careful i was when i was putting on these tights. They are so delicate, its almost untouchable. I also just realised that my last outfit had green & pink elements as well, so i must be going through some kind of pink & green phase, but perhaps its just the bag i over-use. Lol.

Coming from a tropical country like Singapore, you would think I am the perfect candidate to master the art of dressing for warm weather but sadly I am still learning. For the past two years I have been subjected to the four seasons, learnt a little about dressing for cold weather but in the process I have forgot how to dress for the hot weather.

This makes me keep coming up with a lot of these inspiration boards to help me out and I hope that it will help you some way too. I am saying goodbye to my “at times” whimsical side and attempting to pick up a more toned down version of my usual style, focusing mainly on the little details of an outfit instead.

The outfit that Kate Moss is wearing (see insp. board) is very me. I can easily envision myself throwing together an exact copy of it. A white waistcoat plus a ratty old looking rock t-shirt (my DIY Cure shirt from Ebay is perfect) and silver trousers (my Miss Sixty silver coated jeans) finished off with a pair of black Doc Martens, mmmm just the perfect blend of elements of everything that I love.

One of my favourite items for this Spring/Summer is the embellished fringed waistcoat by Christopher Decarnin for Balmain. Its one of those things that make everything look like a million dollars. I wonder if I can find a similar vintage piece just like that or make myself one (if i get desperate enough, lol). Its definitely inspiring me to get a fringed waistcoat that’s for sure!

There seems to be one thing common in all these outfits that are inspiring me for the summer. They are all short in some way. I suppose that is how you know what’s summer-friendly. Ah, summer. Did you know it is my favourite time of the year to wear boots? Its probably because not many people wear them then unlike in the Fall/Winter.

I think my next inspiration board should be on how to rock boots in the summer. What do you think?

I chose this because even for day wear, I like a bit of sparkle in my outfit. Whenever I wear something a standout piece like this, I like to pair it with a simple, not too complicated vest top. The gladiator heels are a great touch plus they are super trendy right now.

Evening: Adam by Adam Lippes (Spring/Summer 200

I love the wet sheen to this silvery-grey dress. Its great that the fit isn’t too tight and it feels like a much more subtle kind of sexy since the legs are mostly covered up and the only thing I’ll expose are my bare shoulders, plus I love tulip shaped skirts.

Party: Alessandro Dell’Acqua (Spring/Summer 200

I am the sort of person who would turn up in a black tie event in something that just about gets away with the theme (bit of a rebel here lol) so while parties usually mean “letting your inhibitions go”, i like to do almost the complete opposite and opt for something more “neat” and “proper” looking to stand out from the crowd. I love this dress mostly because of the little gap in between the collar and the chest and of course the interesting almost plastic like fabric. The shoes are just a bit off the wall, which kind of reflects who i am as a person.

Updated Rant:

The tights i ordered arrived this morning. I tried both of them on. They were a bit too thin for my taste, which means I am sticking to 40 denier leggings. These 15 denier ones will be great for summer though as they don’t feel like anything at all.

Sadly, I have just had my first stocking run on those scarlet tights. 3 long runs on the right leg, on the back and the sides. What should I do? Is it okay to wear stockings with runs on them? Such a shame though because I love them! I am so incredibly gutted. Yeah, they were cheap but still for a non-working gal like myself, every penny counts.

I have emailed Tightsplease to ask if they could let me change my order (still have a pair of white ones coming) to something else which cost slightly more. 40 denier white tights by Pamela Mann. If they do let me change it then it makes this scarlet run issue less painful to deal with.

I think I’m just not going to care and wear the scarlet tights anyway. I paid £3.50 for it so I bloody well wear it until a really big and ridiculous run comes along to stop me. I’ll just have to order more before I leave for Singapore. I’ll order some mustard yellow ones as well, and maybe even orange (to channel Luella A/W) if the mood strikes me then.

Oh, if you are thinking of ordering those Jonathan Aston 15 denier tights, be extremely careful when putting em on. keep fingernails & toe nails short or you are bound to destroy them. They do have a great sheer look to em and will be brilliant for summer - i could feel wind blowing at my legs, literally.

If anyone bought those tights, let me know what you think of em.

I can’t seem to take a decent picture today without making weird faces or laughing. I have no idea why. The bracelet in the outfit was bought today for a mere £6 and i love it! Warm weather means less jackets, and more short-sleeve or sleeveless goodness. Stay tuned!

I’ve always wanted a pair of those american apparel black latex tights myself but never got round to getting them. Now, however, I do have a reason to get myself some black latex tights, in the form of “jeans”. With her signature cute heart embroided back pocket, Siwy might be bringing out these cool latex trousers this coming fall. If latex tights are still “hot” on the style radar then, I will most certainly get myself a pair.

I hope the material is “humid-weather friendly” as black absorbs sunlight and I wouldn’t want my a** to burn in Singapore. Lol.

s’pose its time to start saving my pennies for a rainy day now!

After watching this week’s edition of Gossip Girl which had the most shocking ending, I fell even deeper in love with Jenny Humphrey’s style on the show especially since Serena & Blair’s outfits are starting to bore me. In my previous post, I mentioned that she was one of the reasons why I decided on a pair of white tights but it seems this week lil Jenny Humphrey has got me wishing for more of her items. Her super cute Foley + Corrinna fuschia city bag has got the same vibe as a Balenciaga tote without the over thousand dollar price tag. I am really wishing for a Foley + Corrinna bag right now or at least a fuschia leather tote. I also love the bag in black with pryamid studs. It makes me almost wish I had bought this bag instead of my Marc by Marc Jacobs Posh JJ Turnlock. I would love a nice summer yellow dress to match the fuschia bag with. But boy am I embarrassed that I want 15 year old Jenny Humphrey’s look. Lol.

Its such a brilliant bag and you can wear it in 3 different styles. Over the shoulder, clutch or on the shoulder, i love having the choices! Most importantly, fuschia is just a brilliant colour for accessories. I can’t afford to pay $500 for a Foley + Corrinna bag right now so I guess I’ll have to look for a cheaper option elswehere. It has to be leather tho!

The black one with studs is going on my early christmas wishlist. hehe. As for now I am on the hunt for the perfect yellow dress and an afforable fuschia leather tote bag.

I can’t wait to see Jenny’s outfit next week. I am starting to looove the girl A LOT.

Tonight I took advantage of Tightsplease.co.uk current Free Delivery promotion and got myself 3 pairs of 15 denier tights in red, pink & white which will be just perfect for summer as well as for the hot & humid 31-34 degrees celcius daily singapore weather.

I considered getting tights in blue, orange and green but chickened out at the last minute and opted for some safer choices that would go with what’s in my wardrobe better. I never thought I would buy a pair of white tights but I was inspired by Jenny Humphrey of Gossip Girl as well as Selina of Flying Saucer, both who look absolutely chic in their whitey tighties. Sheer white tights are going to be HOT this winter I think, they were featured all over the Chanel runway. Sadly, the ones i ordered are out of stock and won’t be delivered to me til the 20th, but I’ll at least have some sheer pink + red tights to play with meanwhile!

I am still contemplating of buying more (suggest colours to me people!!) as its actually quite difficult to find proper tights in Singapore (at least the last time i checked) so i need to stock up well on cheapies before i go back in Aug/Sept.  Le best friend has ordered me to help her get some coloured tights as well so we can both rock em together when we hang out again! I really can’t wait to spend time with her again! I’ll miss my boyfriend a lot (sigh!) but hopefully I’ll get used to it and that 2-3 years will fly by fast.
