I ventured out today to the other side of the beach and had the best coffee ever. There is a tiny little cafe along this other stretch of road near where I live, and it was merely by chance I decided to get a coffee there. They didn’t serve frappuccinos but I got a custom-made iced latte and it looks like I have to return there soon again.
Also, I have finally decided to give my doc martens a bit of a rest since I keep walking into mud on the beach today. They have to be cleaned and I am a bit lazy. Since my boyfriend isn’t with me today, I made use of a random broken pipe in the middle of nowhere to take one quick outfit picture. With the wind blowing at me in so many different directions and my hair flying all over the place, I feel rather insecure about the outfit picture. I pretty much wore half of the same outfit as yesterday, but I just love wearing this coat so much!
The weather report did say it would rain today so I am really chuffed that it was sunny instead. I hope there’ll be a few more days like these before I leave – I’ll definitely make the best of it like I have today!

Another super duper windy, cold and rainy day outdoors with my boyfriend. We took quite a bunch of pictures but they all came out real blurry unfortunately. This is just the best out of a very bad bunch! My doc martens got wet (inside, yes!) when the tide came in and I spent the rest of the day walking in wet shoes, how uncomfortable! Then the rain got heavier and worse but I eventually got tired of complaining and just walked happily in the rain. Lol. It was nice though as there weren’t many people around and kinda peaceful. I am still hoping for the weather to warm up a bit before I leave, I am quite interested in the idea of going into the water.
P.s. There are some “scary” pictures of me with hair all over my face. Think “The Ring” kind of ghostly pictures. I decided not to post any in case it scares any of you off. Lol.
I’ve seen Cooler magazine in my local W H Smiths but have never actually picked up a copy. After all, what would interest me in a surf magazine anyway? On my way home today, I happened to dropped by a newsagents and had a quick flip just for the hell of it, only to find myself purchasing a copy! There was one editorial that had made me drop £2.95 for it, and I really wanted to show you guys!
I also really liked “Pretty in punk” primarily because of the styling. The overall design of the magazine is very similar to NYLON and it makes me wonder if they had copied or taken inspiration from them somehow. The resemblance is just uncanny. I really love the photography as well and I think I would buy again if every issue is as brilliant as this!
Kate who works for ADAM emailed me earlier today to share this piece of fantastic news with you guys. Adam Lippes, a contemporary sportswear designer, is best known for his perfect high-quality basic t-shirts and is worn by celebrities such as Jennifer Aniston, Brad Pitt, Nicole Kidman & Oprah Winfrey, etc. Not only is he offering a chance to win one of his perfect t-shirts right now (i can attest to the fine quality), you might also win a $1000 shopping spree at ADAM.
Interested?
All you have to do is share a story of “How Far Would You Go?” on this website www.iwentthisfar.com (Password: fortruelove). It is that simple. The video below is one example of a story of how far these two people went to pursue their dreams.
Personally, I think this is such an inspiring campaign. Who knew being yourself and sharing about what you care about can win you a free t-shirt? Lol. Feel free to blog about it or pass this message on to your friends. Don’t miss out on the chance to win a great t-shirt!
Man, if I won the $1000 shopping spree, I would so pick these items. (All available on ShopAdam.com)
Straight off the runway (modelled by Iekeliene Stange) is this interesting short sleeve jacket with cool organza trim on the neckline. $345, ShopAdam.com
Okay I know I showed this already the other day but its just so lovely. The material looks kinda sports-like and I just love that zip in the middle as well as the gathered waistline! $295, ShopAdam.com
This dress is so not me at all but for some reason I am really drawn to it and want it. Perhaps its because I am loving silk t-shirt dresses so much at the moment! $395, ShopAdam.com
Wow, I think these three items come up to just a little over $1000. That’s alright, I’ll pay the rest with cash!!
Good luck guys & girls! I’m off to post my story now! Cheerio!
Somewhere between the witnessed events of strewn merchandise all over the shop floor, throngs of frenzied shoppers barging into me, and that lipstick stain on that pretty top i found on sale, I have lost most of my enthusiasm for shopping in stores.
You always get brand new, unworn and never tried on pieces when you shop online, usually wrapped neatly in its original plastic bag. Unlike shopping instores, you don’t have to worry so much about hygiene when you receive your purchases in the mail. Not just in matters of hygiene, there are a few other perks of shopping online. For example, I love that when you order a jacket from TOPSHOP.com, it comes with a brand new TOPSHOP hanger in a huge sturdy polka-dotted box, so pretty that I don’t even throw it away. Everything smells and looks new and dandy, making the postage costs worth every single penny.
I was reminded of how much I love online shopping today when I received my new shoes by Nine West. As you can see from the pictures, each shoe has been individually wrapped and it even had a plastic cast that helps the shoes keep its shape.
Perhaps its just me but I find that every time I purchase something online, the item always looks much better in real life than in its photographs. I love that sensation of a discovery like that and I have always been lucky that all my online purchases have fitted me perfectly despite not having a chance at all to try it on.
Especially with these shoes which I had to order in 1/2 a size up that turned out to be my size after all. I was extremely delighted to see that Nine West’s UK 4 is equivalent to a US 6 even though it has always been known to me that a UK 4 is equivalent to a US 7. Strange, but lucky.
These shoes are relatively comfortable but I can tell that it will really wear out my leg muscles if I walk in them too much because of the weight. Also, I think if the black satin straps were purple, they would make a much prettier shoe. What do you reckon? Hmm…
I might be skint but when I saw these gorgeous Jonathan Aston lace tights on both the August issues of Harper’s Bazaar and Elle, I knew that they were a must-have for the lace trend for Fall/Winter 2008. An order for them ensued and they arrived on Wednesday but in the wrong colour. UKTights were kind enough to let me keep them (but I sent them back the same afternoon) and they promptly sent me the correct pair immediately. I must commend on their tip-top service really! These tights are even lovelier in real life but a little bit “itchy” which I find manageable though.

So my boyfriend bought a new camera and the resolution is like 8 megapixels (is that supposed to be good? Better than my old cam that’s for sure!), some unknown brand so we fiddled around with it today. I decided to wear an outfit that I like a lot but won’t go out in. The white tights, ballet flats and pink skirt is too much girlie for lil tomboy me. The other day on my way out, I noticed that the flowers in our garden look prettier than ever and i vowed to take more pictures there to make the most of it.
We took this around 8pm (its only 5mins to 9 now lol) and the sky is a teeny bit grey so I played with the lighting in photoshop a bit to make it look a tiny bit sunny.
(Um, random BUT if there was a name for this picture it would be – “the way you look at me – is kinda like a little sister“ which is part of the lyrics from Katy Perry’s song “One of the boys”)

Okay, so le bf managed to get a day off today (our 4th year anniversary today!) and we went out all day, window-shopping mostly and saw the new Indiana Jones flick. I actually planned to wear a dress today but changed my mind at the very last minute thanks to le bf’s reccomendation but ah well, the day is over so it don’t matter anymore.
I wish I had better pictures of the outfit today but it was so hard to take a picture without feeling embarrassed as town is quite crowded, especially since its half-term & the students are on their holidays. The sheen of the Adam Lippes coat doesn’t show up well in my pictures, sadly but I will be wearing it lots so there will always be better photo opportunities. Le boyfriend also got me a pair of Givenchy sunglasses which I love lots. Okay, so I picked it out myself but a gift is still a gift right? Plus this is in addition to half the price he paid for my marc by marc bag.
I have to admit, I purposely chose one of the smallest frames in the shop, I suppose as a anti-oversized sunglasses statement but mostly because I think that oversized sunglasses look ridiculous on my flat asian nose. I’m sure some other asian girls can prove me wrong but I just don’t like the look of oversized sunglasses on myself. I just think that most people who wear em look like bugs (especially nicole richie & paris hilton). But hey, some people think bugs are cool right? I’ll stick to the classic regular frames, tyvm.
Curella Says support regular-sized sunglasses!!
I think I’m one of the rare few who don’t like big frames. Prove me wrong by leaving me a comment.
[ Outfit Details: Linen Coat by Adam Lippes, Silk Cami by The Limited, Jeans by Siwy Denim, Cut-Out Wedge Heels by Nine West, Patent Bag by Marc by Marc Jacobs. ]
So Mr. Adam Lippes of ADAM had a gander at my blog, read my silly ol’ blog entry about one of his amazing creations, his silver linen trench coat and then sent me my heart’s desire via Fedex. It arrived today.
When I got the e-mail that he wanted to send me the coat, i nearly died and went to heaven, just having the very thought of it happening is almost inconceivable. I mean, he is one of my favourite contemporary designers, arguably my favourite in the first place anyway because he is very good-looking (*ahem* allow me to contain myself here…) and now with the sending of the coat, the gesture being so incredibly sweet, i could cry.
So just look at the picture show below, grab a tissue and cry a little with me. (gosh, i am so dramatic!)
1. The Arrival(my boyfriend ran around the room with it refusing to give it to me and that he was going to open it and keep it for himself. sheesh.)
2. Reveal The Contents - There was another box inside the box!!
3. The little note – i wonder if its written by Adam. I’ll cherish it anyway!
4. A Little Peek- Can someone say “eeeeek??”
5. The Finale
I suppose this gorgeous silver linen coat is my personal equivalent to the classic Burberry trench, especially since linen is hot weather friendly and I do come from a tropical country so go figure.
I have tried it on and it fits perfectly but I look like crap today, am a little bit under the weather so no photo opportunity yet. Its le boyfriend’s and I 4th year anniversary on Thursday so we are going out for a romantic (and goofy) day out soon, and I am going to debut it then. Swansea folk, beware!! Here comes the 5ft2 shiny shine monster!
Meanwhile, you may enjoy how it looks on a Saks model.
I have to say I feel like a “not so stealthy spy” in it and even though i was wearing a baseball shirt and pj bottoms when i tried it on, it somehow managed to still make the odd ensemble look almost chic.
One thing that I am most impressed with so far (despite all the excitement) is the quality. Designer clothing doesn’t always means good quality, from my personal experience but I trust that all Adam’s products are made from good quality fabrics. I own a silver tweed bolero from his previous Adam + Eve line and i felt the same about its quality the first time I received it too. The trench coat is lined with a really soft silk fabric, similar to one of the silk scarves my mother bought from me on her many trips to China.
I also love that this coat is a linen-cotton mix, therefore it doesn’t crinkle as badly as my 100% linen jacket. I am going to wear this beautiful coat to Spain on my 10 day trip at the end of June especially at night when it gets a bit chilly.
Thank you so much Mr. Adam Lippes for this coat. My fumbling words can’t actually thank you enough. I do however really appreciate the gesture and you made a silly little girl’s dream come true today! I love you!!
P.s.In case you do not know what a pretty picture he is, here is one. Get smitten, you lil kittens! Start saving up your pennies for his high street collaboration with Mango next Spring/Summer 09 if you can’t afford his usual prices!!
